Ohio Roller Girls Feature: Donna De La Muerte

Q1: How did you get into started with the Ohio Roller Girls? How long have you been skating?
A: i don't totally remember how i first heard about OHRG, but i do remember finding out that they would be handing out fliers at a local bar. i went out *just* so i could get a flyer and find out more. i remember polly apocolypse grabbing me and saying 'you should come hang out with us!' after that night, i went to a meeting, then practices started shortly after. i got some skates and pads, then i fell down a lot! that was about 3 + years ago. that was when i seriously started skating.

Q2: What position do you play?
A: i'm currently not skating because of some chronic injuries, but when i did i mostly played as a tail blocker.

Q3: What makes you tougher than the next girl?
A: giant boobs! and i'm not afraid to use them! haha! that and a descent bootie block.

Q4: How many tattoos do you have?
A: about 23 depending on how you count 'em.

Q5: Where do you get your ink?
A: i work at a shop called evolved. all of the tattoos i've gotten since i moved to c~bus have been done artists at evolved. mike kerin did the heart w/gem on my chest, aj mcMillen (now at high st. tattoo) did my banana tattoo, and oliver martinez did my most recent addition of a bela lugosi portrait! before that one mr. carlos ransom from lawrence, ks did most of my lower right leg and several other pieces on me as well. besides that, i have a smattering of different tattoos from all over. magenta from seattle did my kittie skull and cross bones on my rt. knee, paulie andrews from north carolina did my JTHM piece on my left forearm, freddy vegas from st. roberts, mo did most of my rt. arm and the back of my neck, james peters from denver did the gashly crumb tinies on the back of my right thigh, chad lambert from texas did my art maniquin, cat spencer did the mom heart on my chest, paul booth did the voodoo doll on my rt. foot. that's most of 'em.

Q6: Any plans for future tattoos?
A: LOTS! that list is WAAAY too long. as far as imediate plans... mike is going to do a zipper pull going on my chest just below my throat, oliver is going to add some flowers around bela, and at some point in time i need a scary, sexy zombie chick on my halloween leg! with BRAAAINS!

Q7: When you're not kicking ass in the rink, what are you up to?
A: bench coaching! since i've been injured i've been helping the take~outs and gang green with line~ups and telling skaters what position they're playing. just generally helping out where i can with derby. i also like to travel and do guest spots at shops, and the occasional tattoo convention.

Q8: Roller girls have a tough girl/pinup girl tough and sexy quality to them - does that carry over into your life outside the rink as well as inside the rink? If so, how?
A: i think it does carry over. since i started derby, i'm generally more confidant. i'm much less likely to take sh*t from people in general. AND i've had more photos taken of me since i joined than i ever did before! i've had 2 different phtographers tell me i'm very good in front of the camera! heehee!

Q10: You're a tattoo artist? Where do you tattoo? How long have you been tattooing?
A: i'm currently tattooing at Evolved Body Art in columbus, ohio. (www.evolvedbodyart.com) i've been here for about 3 1/2 years and i've been tattooing for a total of about 11+ years.

Q11: Have you tattooed any of your fellow roller girls? If so, who?
A: boy have i! :) so far i've tattooed on *deep breath in* tank (OHRG logo, state of ohio, "TANK" rocker), caesar (OHRG logo, frog), Dixie Hearless (pirate tattoo, small bow, "DIXIE" w/ broken heart), Red Headed Slut (fam. crest), Bubbles von D (OHRG logo), Surly Manson(OHRG logo), ReVulva (OHRG logo, shrounded woman, tribal on chest), drrty grrl (OHRG logo, 'drrty grrl' on the backs of her thighs, doggie paw prints), bitsy banger (quan yin & dragon, bully star ON HER FACE), Jaden Blayz (stars), StingRay (stingray, isis w/ cats) retired skaters: thaDevil (derby 'D', shel silerstein candel), polly apocalypse (lettering, mandala), sid vixen('bad ass'), Andi WarHaulAss (face sketch), Rock M Nasty (prey for rock and roll), Nyx Ophelia (chi rho, kanji). that's all i can remember right now, sorry if i forgot anyone!
